CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE - TREASURY

Finance Department, Treasury Division

Full Time (37.5 hrs.)

Duties & Responsibilities


This is responsible work of a fiscal nature involving the handling of City funds and tasks related to the treasury function of the Finance Department. Work involves monitoring motor vehicle inventory, State reporting for Bureau of Motor Vehicle and Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Work is performed under the direction of the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. Knowledge of vehicle and boat registrations, real estate and excise tax, sewer user fees, and special assessment district rules and regulations, including state laws is preferred. Assist in daily cash balancing. Assist customers with property tax, excise tax, sewer user fee, and special assessment fees. Acts as Rental Company Motor Vehicle liaison.


Desired Qualifications:


  • Previous experience working in a municipal environment is highly preferred.
  • Cash Handling experience.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Direct customer service experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer financial software systems and database software.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, rules and regulations related to BMV processes.
  • Proficiency and accuracy with balancing of accounts and cash.
  • Ability to work independently and organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees, and customers.
  • Must complete Maine State BMV New Registration training and receive certification within five (5) months of hire.

Salary & Benefits:

CEBA Union position - Grade 14 - Salary range starting at $835.50/week ($22.28/hour).
